| Overview |
| YRG
CARE offers an Internship Programme to qualified students
at its institute in Chennai, India. Internships generally
last from 10 to 30 weeks. We are looking for applicants primarily
who are students of medicine, public health, nutrition, research,
and community development. Interns are selected on the basis
of their academic work, extracurricular activities, employment
and experience through travel or voluntary work. |

| Eligibility
criteria |
| To be considered for
an internship with YRG CARE: |

Interns
should be currently-enrolled graduate or post-graduate
students in a field related to the activities at YRG
CARE. They must be enrolled during the proposed internship
period. Undergraduates are generally not accepted
and are considered on a case-by-case basis. Candidates
should be fluent in English. Knowledge of Tamil or
Telugu is desirable.

Prior
work experience or significant travel in a developing
country is also of value.

Candidate’s
academic performance should be excellent, as demonstrated
by recent university or institution records.

Candidate
should be able to illustrate passion and extraordinary
commitment to work in HIV/AIDS prevention, care and
treatment.

Application
for an internship should be supported by the candidate’s
university or related institution. The minimum requirement
is a letter from one of the professors supporting the
candidate’s application.

The
intern should be able to support himself/herself during
the course of the internship, considering the fact that
YRG CARE is unable to bear any cost related to India
visa procurement, travel or living expenses while working
with the Organization;

Additional
consideration will be given for any past work experiences
related to international health or international development.
However, it should be borne in mind that even if the
candidate meets these qualifications, there is no guarantee
of placement. We receive more applications from qualified
candidates than we can place. Placement is subject to
availability of meaningful assignments.
