Xpert® HIV-1 Viral Load Test is a highly sensitive real-time PCR test designed to provide rapid and accurate quantitation of the HIV-1 RNA.  The test is done with GeneXpert® IV which is a fully integrated and automated Real-Time PCR system.  Results, based on which doctors can make immediate treatment decisions can be taken, are provided in three hours. This also reduces patient waiting time in the hospital.

Test Indications: Quantifying HIV-1 RNA levels (viral load) in HIV infected individuals to monitor effectiveness of antiretroviral therapy (ART).

Blood Sample required: Whole Blood 5mL

Report Turnaround time: 3 Hours (from the time of sample collection).

Reportable Range:  40 – 10,000,000 copies of HIV RNA/mL

Test Availability: Monday – Saturday (10.00AM to 5.00PM)

Other applications of GeneXpert® IV System

This system can also be used to diagnose Tuberculosis (TB) and detect  resistance to Rifampin, one of the drugs commonly used to treat TB. Results are available in 4 hours.
