Aruna Xavier is a Research Nurse at YRGCARE in Chennai, India. She has been working with YRGCARE for the past 14 years. She completed her Diploma in General Nursing from DELTA School of Nursing and her Post Basic B.Sc. (Nursing) from Sri Aurobindo College of Nursing in Karur in 2014.

She worked as a clinical nurse from 2008 – 2011 and as a nutritional assistant from 2012 – 2014. From 2015 – 2019, she worked as a clinical nurse, and since 2021 she is working as a research nurse.

Dr Aruna’s current ongoing studies include the National HIV Cohort Program, Cohorts for HIV Resistance and Progression in Indian Children and Adults (CoHRPICA), Study on the Hepatitis B virus vaccine response among HIV-1 infected individuals – A Multicentre study, Virus Discovery and Sequencing at Indian Sentinel Site, and study on Predictors of Resistance Emergence Evaluation in Multidrug Resistant-Tuberculosis Patients on Treatment (PREEMPT)- Sponsored by NIH.

Dr Aruna coordinates the visit of the participants, writes patient's chart notes, and prepares the necessary source documents pertaining to every visit. Fixes the schedule for the next visit, Consults the clinicians for the necessary medications/changes, discusses with the participants about the medications, Schedule participants visit, stresses the importance of adherence to participants and reports adverse events if any to the clinicians. Works with the study coordinator to ensure retention and provides weekly follow up roaster to the tracking team. Involved in filling up all details in the Case Report Form.
